WTCC（World Touring Car Championship）世界房車錦標賽，雖然與F1、WRC並稱為FIA旗下三大賽事，但整體歷史較短，且命運也比較乖舛一些；首屆WTCC賽事是在1987年與ETCC歐洲房車錦標賽合併舉辦，但隨即由於FIA擔心影響到正開始成長茁壯的F1賽事收益，所以只辦了就那麼一屆就遭到了腰斬；而第一屆的冠軍是由Schnitzer Motorsport的車手義大利籍的Roberto Ravaglia所拿下。
