China market: MediaTek 4G LTE solutions verified by China Mobile

MediaTek's 4G LTE smartphone solutions have been verified by China Mobile, paving the way for China-based handset vendors to begin shipping LTE models to China Mobile, the largest telecom operator in China.
The verification will also enable MediaTek to start grabbing the 4G chipset market from Qualcomm and Marvell Technology, the two 4G solution vendors verified by China Mobile previously.
MediaTek is expected to meet strong resistance from Qualcomm and Marvell, particularly the latter which said earlier that it aims to take the second vendor title in the global 4G solution market in 2014, the sources indicated.
