沙烏地阿拉伯石油部長納艾米十九日在沙國首都利雅德會晤美國能源部長莫尼茲時表示，沙國歡迎美國生產頁岩油。他說：「我們討論美國與其他國家增產頁岩油的現象。沙國歡迎這種新能源，因為它有助於滿足全球對能源有增無減的需求並穩定石油市場。」
