美：單獨非法入境孩童人數大減

美國國土安全部長強生(Jeh Johnson)7日表示，在沒有成人陪伴下入境美國的非法移民孩童人數，在6至7月時減少近半。
強生發表聲明說，6月的非法越界兒童人數達1萬628人，但在7月降至5,508人。對於單獨入境美國的孩童人數減少，強生讚揚美方加強與墨西哥邊防警戒見效。
強生表示，為了對抗從德州南部里大河谷地區(Rio Grande Valley)非法潛入的移民人數變多，美方加強資源並且採取積極行動，像是增加把非法移民遣返回到中美洲的航班。
不過強生說，國土安全部處理邊界危機的經費即將耗盡，為了因應這個問題，必須從部門內的其他項目挪用4.05億美元。
強生將經費短缺歸咎於美國國會。美國國會上週在尚未表決同意提撥額外資金的情況下，就在7月31日展開夏季休假。
